Taking a break from the shopping haul, remember the yummylicious Reese's Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups?
And now we have Reese's Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Scented Lip Balm!
I saw this on eBay a few months ago. I think it was selling at AUD4 or something. It looked so cute; I had to snap it up.
It smells like chocolate and tastes just like chocolate peanut butter! This is one of the lip balms that I "eat" rather than actually using it to moisturise my lips. In terms of a lip balm, it doesn't do much for me. It's pretty dry actually. But hmmm the taste is amazing.
Just one of the novelty makeup things I found on eBay. Next thing you know, they'll be coming up with fried chicken-flavoured lip balm! For those who really like their KFC :p

The Blistex Lip Infusion Cool Splash is a mint flavoured liquid lip balm that glides on with an smooth rolling tip. It looks a roll-on perfume, but for the lips. When I first tried it on, I was very pleasantly surprised at how cold the metal ball was when it rolled against my lips. It felt really good on a hot day. Imagine running an icecube along your lips on a stinkin' hot day. Yep, that's the feeling. The menthol and spearmint also left my lips feeling tingly.
The liquid left a very shiny sheen on my lips. It's like lipgloss, just without any of the stickiness. Plus it's got SPF 12, which is very good. We often slather sunscreen all over our face, neck, arms and legs, but forget our lips.
Unfortunately, that's just all about that's good about the lip balm. It claims to moisturise lips. My lips actually felt drier after using this! Everytime I reapplied the lip balm, my lips got worse. It just felt as though the liquid was sucking the moisture out of my parched lips. I had to stop using this after a while, and went back to my Softlips.
There are also a lot of negative reviews on Makeup Alley, where most of the reviewers claimed it to strip moisture off their lips too. So bye bye to you Blistex Lip Infusion. Another bad buy :(
Blistex Lip Infusion is available at Priceline and most drugstores.
Although I have to say, I do like the concept of a roll-on lip balm. If they improved on the formula, I might give it another go.

When I heard that Reese Witherspoon became an ambassador for Avon, I was pretty excited. This may come as a surprise to you, but I'm a big fan of Reese Witherspoon, from when she did Cruel Intentions, to Legally Blonde, Just Like Heaven and many others. When I saw an Avon advertisement on the Avon Pro-To-Go lipsticks with her on the background, wearing the pretty pink lippie, I was admittedly sold. I know, pathetic, right?

I especially liked the Intimate Nude, which is, as the name suggests, a nude lipstick. The Cherry Glisten is a tad bright for me to be worn during the day though, but a lovely colour on evenings out. The Pro-To-Go lipsticks come in 15 shades.
Next, let's talk about the texture and staying-on power. This is where the lipsticks disappoint me. They don't last long; definitely have to be reapplied after meals or even a drink. Even though the description of the lipsticks mentioned that they were moisturising, I found them drying on the lips. That is, unfortunately, a big boo boo for me, as far as lipsticks go. I normally wear lip balm before applying lipstick or even lip gloss, and my lips still felt dry with the Pro-To-Go. Kinda reminded me of the matte lipsticks I used to wear when I was in secondary school, and matte lippies were all in the rage.
Oh well, my bad for falling for a product purely based on advertising. As cute as the lipsticks are, I didn't like them on my lips, and I don't think I'll repurchase. Thank goodness I got these on sale on the MAD Minerals website at USD5.50 each (normal price per lipstick is USD9).
If you would still like to give 'em a go (who knows, it might work for you. These are just my personal take on the lippies anyway :p), do check them out at MAD Minerals. At the time of writing, the sales are still on on the Pro-To-Go lipsticks.

Everyone associates Sally Hansen with nails. Not so much a variety of nail polishes, but a good selection of nail treatment products. I've never thought of trying anything outside of the nail products range. I certainly wasn't thinking of getting a lip plumper for meself, but when I saw this on sale at a cosmetic warehouse sale near my place, I thought "ahh what the heck, might as well give it a go".

I ended up buying the clear Lip Inflation. Instead of the usual doe-foot sponge applicators you see on lip gloss, they opted for a plastic white-bristled brush. I think the brush works better than the sponge applicator as it slid better on my lips. I'm not sure if it physically plumped my lips, but the strong peppermint made me "stick out" my lips more, giving it an actual pout :p
In order to plump up the lips, apply a generous amount over the entire lip area. You may experience a slight tingle, but that's the point of the plumper. I kid you not; you'd actually pout more with this on. I don't know if it's a psychological thing, but you really do :p
The clear Lip Inflation can be worn alone or over your lippie. I like putting this over my matte lipstick. I tried it on with my NARS Christina lipstick, which is matte. Once the Lip Inflation is applied, it really made the colour stand out with a very sexy glossy sheen on the lips.
Applying the lip gloss over the lipstick will stain the brush. It's best to immediately wipe the lipstick residue off with tissue before putting it back into the tube so that it doesn't permanently stain the brush.
I'm not exactly sure if this actually plumped up my lips, but the tingling sensation is awesome on the lips. Plus the glossy sheen is gorgeous over lipstick. Try it over your favourite lippie; it will make the colour "pop"!
Sally Hansen's Lip Inflation is available in three more colours - Sheer Blush, Sheer Pink and Sheer Mocha. You can get it at Priceline for AUD14.95. I bought this for 8 bucks or something at the warehouse sale :p I'm not sure if this is available in Malaysia though. I've always wanted to try out the Burt's Bees range. To my knowledge, Burt's Bees is not available in Malaysia just yet (please correct me if I'm wrong), yet I've heard so much of it at Viva Woman. To my delight, this is available here. I discovered (and purchased) a few Burt's Bees products at David Jones. First item in my shopping list, and something relatively safe to buy, would be the lip shimmers. The one I bought was in the Fig shade.

Oh my, have I just found yet another holy grail of lip balms? Granted, this one has a hint of colour in it, but oh my goodness, this is one good lip balm. I absolutely LOVE it. The lip balm glided smoothly on my lips, and kept my lips hydrated in the increasingly chilly weather. It also contains peppermint oil, which leaves a cool, tingling feeling on my lips.
The hint of colour was also very much welcomed. Before applying lipstick or lipgloss, I'd normally apply lip balm on my lips liberally before applying my lip colour. With the lip shimmer, there was no need to. It's positively tiny in size, and so easy to carry around with me. I can't wait to get the other colours.
Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer retails at AUD11.95, and is available at David Jones (Chadstone).
What I like about it: Pretty hint of colour, keeps my lips properly hydrated, and love the minty-tingly effect on my lips.
What I did not like about it: Nothing.

From the looks of the colour shown on the website, it seems to be creamier than the liquid Benetint. Oh well, only one way to find out. Gonna check it out at the Benefit counter at Myer this weekend to see if it's available yet.
Again, for my other-than-US readers, it would be cheaper for you to get any Benefit products online than via the counter, even after postage and handling fees.

If you're a fan of Benefit's uber-popular lip and cheek stain, Benetint, you might be interested to know that the ladies of Benefit have come up with a similar lip and cheek stain, Posietint, which will be launched in June.
It's pretty similar to the Benetint; it is in liquid form and has a brush. However instead of giving you a reddish tint like Benetint does, Posietint will give you a pinkish stain. I love the Benetint, and I can't wait for this to be launched just so I can try it out. It would be so pretty for winter, with that flushed shade of pink on my cheeks.

I've heard so much of CoverGirl when I was in Malaysia, but for some odd reason, it just wasn't available to us (it still isn't). So you can imagine my excitement when I found out that they have CoverGirl here in Australia! I know, I know, this isn't what you'd call a majorly fantastic brand or anything, but to me, it's a classic.
This lipgloss was the first CoverGirl item I bought when I moved here.

The gloss feels great on my lips, and I don't have to worry about my hair sticking on 'em.
I like how the spout of the tube is slanted; this makes it easy for me to apply the gloss (I don't like the ones which are rounded at the tip with one tiny hole. How are you supposed to apply the lipbalm evenly with that?). The gloss glides on my lips easily. Love the hint of colour too.
According to the CoverGirl US website, there are 12 colours and flavours to the Wetslicks.
So far, I have not seen Fig Splash and Guava Splash sold in Australia. Still, I think I have enough lip gloss to last me quite a while :p

I've been meaning to review this for a long time now, but with all the big events going on for the past 3 months, I had to put this on hold.
This is a very special piece of lipstick, because it was my very first Christmas pressie from a blogger-pal! I really didn't expect it, but this came from the very lovely Paris Beaverbanks *woot!!* Yep, I was woot-ing quite a bit when I got this on the mail ;)
I've never actually bought any lipsticks from Kanebo before; in fact this would be one of the two Kanebo lipsticks I own (the other was also a gift). Not that I have anything against Kanebo lipsticks, but being such a cheapskate, I have never spent anything over RM50 for a lipstick. So imagine my delight to get a T'estimo lippie!
The Serumdrape Rouge is very smooth on the lips, and the colour stays on for a couple of hours before I have to reapply. It doesn't dry my lips, which some lippies do. I love the colour (looks dark, but it gives a sheer pink stain on th lips), and especially the pearly look of the lipstick from the outside. Luxurious look indeed :p
As this is a gift, I'm afraid I have no idea how much this costs. Still, being a T'estimo, I know it doesn't come cheap, thus I only save this for special occasions.

Extremely chapped lips? Can't seem to heal properly? Then try Kanebo Sensai's Total Lip Treatment. This was my first luxury purchase (on any beauty product over RM200) which I'd like to share with you today.
I bought this a few months ago, after a routine facial at the Kanebo, Parkson outlet in Gurney Plaza. I was pretty much cajoled by the sales assistant to try out the lip treatment cream (sad huh?). This has got to be the most expensive lip cream I've EVER bought. But it was also the best.
The lip treatment cream lasts quite long (provided you don't wipe it off), and it is perfect in dry weather. I brought it with me to Melbourne; the winter was very dry, and my lips had severe cracks and bleeds. It was like having a permanent "lip liner" on my lips - the "liner" were the cracks. It hurt real bad, but thanks to the cream, which I faithfully applied every morning and night, it really soothed my lips, and they got back to its original condition in a short period of time. It also keeps the lips looking smooth, plump, and definitely kissable ;)
I'd really recommend this to those who travel a lot to dry countries, and definitely to those who are living in such countries.
Okay, and now for the price. This is really going to hit your pocket. I bought it in a set, consisting of the Total Lip Treatment (15ml), the Sensai Cellular Performance Lotion II (30ml), and the Sensai Cellular Performance Emulsion II (15ml) for RM280. At the time I bought it, they weren't selling the product separately. However, you can buy the lip treatment cream on its own at StrawberryNET for RM190. Wished I knew that earlier, would have saved me RM90 (didn't really need the other two at that moment). Drats.
I know it's expensive, but even at 15ml, it can last you up to a year, because you only use VERY little per application (about 1/3 of your pinkie). It's a bit oily if you use too much, so it should last a long time. When applying it on your lips at night before going to bed, try massaging a little of the cream on your laugh lines as well to reduce the appearance of fine lines.
The lip treatment set retails at RM280 at all Kanebo International outlets, and RM190 at StrawberryNET.
What I like about it: Fantastic lip treatment; heals cracked lips fast.
What I did not like about it: Very expensive; oily if applied too much.
I bought this a few months ago, after a routine facial at the Kanebo, Parkson outlet in Gurney Plaza. I was pretty much cajoled by the sales assistant to try out the lip treatment cream (sad huh?). This has got to be the most expensive lip cream I've EVER bought. But it was also the best.
The lip treatment cream lasts quite long (provided you don't wipe it off), and it is perfect in dry weather. I brought it with me to Melbourne; the winter was very dry, and my lips had severe cracks and bleeds. It was like having a permanent "lip liner" on my lips - the "liner" were the cracks. It hurt real bad, but thanks to the cream, which I faithfully applied every morning and night, it really soothed my lips, and they got back to its original condition in a short period of time. It also keeps the lips looking smooth, plump, and definitely kissable ;)
I'd really recommend this to those who travel a lot to dry countries, and definitely to those who are living in such countries.
Okay, and now for the price. This is really going to hit your pocket. I bought it in a set, consisting of the Total Lip Treatment (15ml), the Sensai Cellular Performance Lotion II (30ml), and the Sensai Cellular Performance Emulsion II (15ml) for RM280. At the time I bought it, they weren't selling the product separately. However, you can buy the lip treatment cream on its own at StrawberryNET for RM190. Wished I knew that earlier, would have saved me RM90 (didn't really need the other two at that moment). Drats.
I know it's expensive, but even at 15ml, it can last you up to a year, because you only use VERY little per application (about 1/3 of your pinkie). It's a bit oily if you use too much, so it should last a long time. When applying it on your lips at night before going to bed, try massaging a little of the cream on your laugh lines as well to reduce the appearance of fine lines.
The lip treatment set retails at RM280 at all Kanebo International outlets, and RM190 at StrawberryNET.
What I like about it: Fantastic lip treatment; heals cracked lips fast.
